How Reed Rides handles your information

Where this stands right now Reed Rides is pre-launch and this policy has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer. Because the app collects location data and general use isn't restricted to adults, it should get a full legal review, including a look at COPPA (the US children's privacy law), before it's available to the public. Treat this page as an honest plain-language starting point, not a finished legal document.

What we collect

When you create a Reed Rides account, we collect basic account information such as your name and email address. As you use the app, we collect the rides and parks you check into, the badges and stamps you earn, and, if you use Crew, information about who you ride with and what your crew does together.

We collect precise location data only when you open the check-in flow for a specific ride. Reed Rides confirms you're near the ride and stayed for a short window before counting it as a verified visit. We do not track your location in the background or while the app is closed.

How we use it

We use this information to verify check-ins, award badges and stamps, power Crew features like Presence and Sweep, build your trip and park recaps, and improve the app. If you ask to be notified when Reed Rides launches, we use your email for that one message and nothing else.

Crew and social features

Crew Presence, which shows other crew members where you are at a park, is opt-in. You choose which crews you belong to and can leave at any time. Milestone Ranking and Recap only show activity from crews you've joined.

Children's privacy

Anyone 13 or older has full access to Reed Rides, with no age-based restrictions. For accounts under 13, the core passport features (tracking rides, badges, and stamps) are available with no restriction. Crew is different: because it can show other members where you are at a park, an account under 13 can only create or join a Crew after a parent or guardian confirms through an emailed link sent to them. We don't collect or share a location tied to an under-13 account with other Crew members until that confirmation is complete. Sharing

We don't sell your personal information. We share data with service providers who help us run the app (for example, cloud hosting), and only to the extent needed for them to provide that service.

Data retention and deletion

We keep your account and ride history for as long as your account is active. In-app account and data deletion isn't built yet. Until it ships, email reed@reedrides.com and we'll delete your data directly.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your information, but no method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, let you know in the app.
